Celebrating Indoor Air Quality Month with Science-Backed Solutions

October is Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Month, a time to recognize just how much the air inside our homes, schools, and workplaces matters for our health. With people spending up to 90% of their time indoors, IAQ plays a fundamental role in wellbeing, especially for the over 100 million people in the U.S. living with asthma and allergies.

Why IAQ Matters

Today, people want products they can trust to genuinely improve indoor air quality in the spaces where they live and breathe. But with so many claims in the marketplace, it can be difficult to make the right choices for your family.

That’s where the Asthma & Allergy Friendly® Certification Program comes in. As our new video explains, Allergy Standards, together with our patient advocacy partner, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), created this unique certification program to combine scientific expertise with community trust and advocacy.

Every product with the Asthma & Allergy Friendly® mark is independently tested in approved laboratories against strict scientific standards, addressing key asthma and allergy triggers to help create healthier indoor environments.

What’s Ahead This October

Throughout Indoor Air Quality Month, we’ll be publishing three new articles each week to share knowledge, resources, and practical steps that families, schools, and businesses can take to improve IAQ. You can expect:

  • Educational features on how IAQ impacts asthma, allergies, and overall health.

  • Spotlights on Certified products that have been scientifically tested to help reduce exposure to asthma and allergy triggers.

  • Partner stories and updates that showcase how innovation and certification are making a real-world difference.

  • Practical tips and resources for creating healthier environments at home, in schools, and in workplaces.
