The Certification Program is currently testing and in the process of certifying Indoor Decorative Coatings (to include paint and surface coatings) as asthma & allergy friendly™.

Indoor Decorative Coatings that are certified asthma & allergy friendly™ are tested according to ASP:04:01.

Certification Protocals subject the indoor decorative coating to chemical testing to ensure that the product does not have properties that are likely to irritate both asthma and allergy symptoms in susceptible people:

• Exposure to airborne solvents and other irritant or toxic materials during application and thereafter of indoor decorative coatings must not exceed Certification Thresholds at the specified time points.
• Certification Thresholds are based upon the most stringent national or international requirements for chemicals known to adversely impact on human health and the environment.
• The coatings must meet or exceed the most stringent national or international requirements for chemicals known to adversely impact on human health and the environment.
• The coatings must meet or exceed the requirements of the appropriate national or international performance standards.
